Logo: Visual Design

Growth

As with many new brands, finding a voice take time. Logo was no different. The site began development with an incomplete brand & had to grow in parallel to its ever evolving on-air sister. I had to find creative solutions to subtly evolve the online design within the context of the site's original design. It was a difficult task, but every move was calculated to create a cohesive product.

Bridging the Divide

The entertainment industry is constantly redefining itself. From digital downloads to social networking sites, the need to evolve within the industry & push the creative envelope is always a challenge & a priority.

One project that achieved this was Logo's “Queen Year in Film”; a tent pole site that included commentary, video, photos & voting. To bridge the divide between on-air & online, I spearheaded the effort to create an on-air promotional spot which was updated in real time through the use of an online poll. This ambitious project required that I coordinate MTVN's Broadcast group, Logo's On-Air, Programming & Online groups. The result was seamless cross-platform experience and a great success for both online and on-air.

Baby Steps

Acquisition is a popular method to reach new users, but keeping 400,000 social networkers happy is no easy task. How do you improve the site for future growth, align disparate brands, improve the site’s interface & architecture while retaining the experience that die-hard users love? It is achieved through thoughtful moves with calculated baby steps. This was the challenge that I was presented with when Logo acquired Downelink.com.

I worked with the Business Development group to set objectives & timelines. From there, I created a plan of attack to insert ad units, took the first steps to re-architect the main navigation & art directed a redesign of the header & navigation.

As for the 400,000 Downelinkers, they can speak for themselves:

Downelink looks dope now!

The change happened so suddenly, I kinda like it though… Good job Downelink.

Oohaaay, they updated [Downelink]. very nice…
